The green waste subscription service provides an eco-friendly way to dispose of yard and garden waste. It operates seasonally, starting from the second Monday in March to the second Friday in December. This helps keep yards clean and contributes to the community's sustainability efforts by turning green waste into compost or mulch, enriching the soil, and supporting new plant growth. This cyclical process benefits the environment and residents by ensuring natural waste is put to good use.

Reasons to Sign Up for Green Waste Collection:

1. Cost-Effective: Green waste processing costs less than general waste disposal, helping keep your overall waste management costs low.
2. Landfill Reduction: By participating, you reduce the amount of waste sent to the landfill, contributing to environmental sustainability.
3. Compost Production: The green waste is processed into valuable organic compost that can be reused.
4. Environmental Benefits: Reducing the volume of organic waste in landfills helps lower greenhouse gas emissions caused by decomposing materials.

Important Program Details:

• Every District residence is eligible to participate in the Green Waste Collection Program, a subscription-based service.
• Weekly Collections: Green waste is collected once per week.
• Fees:
  • A one-time $70 start-up fee is charged when you first sign up, which covers the cost of purchasing and delivering the green waste can.
  • The annual subscription fee is $126 for nine months of collection (March to November).
  • If you need additional cans, there is an extra charge of $36 per can per year, along with the $70 start-up fee for each additional can.

This program is funded solely by subscription fees, meaning no tax dollars or other fees are used to support it.

Additionally, a Green Waste can is $108 cheaper per year than an additional garbage can, offering savings for those who wish to reduce waste in a more sustainable way.

The service is optional, designed for those who value the convenience and environmental benefits of green waste collection.
