Government Records Access and Management Act (GRAMA)

What is GRAMA?

In 1991, the Utah Legislature enacted the Government Records Access and Management Act (GRAMA) under Title 63G, Chapter 2 of the Utah Code, giving the public the right to access information. The law directs how government records should be managed, and how public access to that information is obtained.

To Request a Record:

To access records maintained by Wasatch Front Waste & Recycling District; download, complete, and submit a GRAMA Request Form. Forms may be submitted in person at our offices, at 604 West 6960 South, Midvale, UT. Forms may also be submitted online to our Records Officer.

A governmental entity has ten (10) business days after receiving a written request to provide the record, deny the request, or notify the requester that it cannot immediately provide a response due to extraordinary circumstances. Extraordinary circumstances may require more processing time.

Records Fee Schedule:

  • Hard Copy Records = $0.50 per page
  • Certified/Notarized Copies = $5.00
  • Audio Recordings on CD = $5.00
  • DVD Video Recordings = $10.00
  • Photos on CD = $5.00 for every 30 photos
  • Extensive Research Fees = $12.75 per hour (after first 15 minutes)

A government entity may require payment of fees and future estimated fees before beginning to process a request if fees are expected to exceed $50, or if the requester has not paid fees from previous request. Any prepaid amount in excess of fees due shall be returned to the requester. UCA 63G-2-203(8)
